New Director Of Labour Market Enforcement

Sir David Metcalfe has been appointed as first Director Of Labour Market Enforcement, reporting to the Secretaries of State for the Home Office and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial strategy.  He will set the strategic priorities for the:

Gangmasters & Labour Abuse Authority, Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate and HMRC National Minimum Wage enforcement team.

For the first time the 3 agenencies are centralising their intelligence, enabling the Director to draw up an annual strategy targeting sectors and regions which are vulnerable to unscrupulous employment practices.  He is also working alongside the Independent Anti Slavery Commissioner to better tackle exploitation and slavery within the labour market.
